H Raja's Letter to Kamala Hasan

Translation of the letter Shri H Raja wrote to Shri Kamala Hasan...

Dear brother Shri Kamala Hasan, Namaste.!!

You recently celebrated your 61st birthday. I too express my hearty wishes. I write this letter in response to your speech on the occassion. Several points made by you were around "Atheism", "Rationalism"....You said, that you were neither a believer (Aasthika) nor a disbeliever (Naasthika) but a rationalist, because both these words are Samskrit words. I would like to point out that your own name Kamala Haasan is an unadultrated Samskrita word. Shruti, the name you have given to your daughter is also a Samskrita word denoting the Vedas..I'll suggest to you to try and find Tamil Names.

"Let Gods be in one's own pocket and not be thrust on others" You have suggested. I welcome your suggestion. None of the believers object to anyone being a disbeliever, but disbelievers in their effort to thrust their disbelief on the believers, mock at the beliefs, denigrate their beliefs... Every statue of Shri EVRamaswami carries a stone inscription that "One who taught God is Junglee. One who believes in God is an idiot and fraud". None of the temples carries similar stone carvings describing the disbeliever as an idiot or junglee or fraud. Hence, your advise is most apt and timely for the Rationalists and disbelievers.

You spoke about "Expiry" of Gods... But, beware.. Don't you know that Son (Stalin) from HQ rationalist family (Karunanidhi's family), is visiting every temple and Sanyaasee Matt, in the wake of ensuing elections. "Rationalism" is on the wane. Expiry date in fact is for Rationalism..

You have said that "Tamil has no role in Worship". You are ignorant. There is no worship in any temple without Dewaram, Tiruvachakam, Tiruppaavai...These texts and Itihasa like Ramayana, Mahabharatha of Hindu Dharma have immortalised Tamil language. Can you name any rationalist who has made any significant contribution to Tamil literature??? And the language one chooses for worship is one's own prerogative, one's own choice.. It may be Samskrit or Arabik.

Moreover, Rationalists are mere reactionaries. Shri EVe Ramaswami broke Vinayaka idols, only to hurt the sentiments of believers. Is any such thing like destroying "symbols of Rationalsm" being enacted in temples or Yagya Shalas..??? Have you or other rationalists tried ever to break similar symbols connected with other Religions? You are all mere Anti Hindu?

"Why do Tsunami, cyclones, poverty occur?" Why does not your God stop these" You have asked, Hindu Dharma has suitable explanation for this. Only the other Religions fail to explain these phenomenon.

"I can explain in a scientific way that beef eating is unhealthy. But, Food in my plate is a matter of my personal choice", you have declared. Again, you're exposing your ignorance. A constitutional provision may or may not be to your liking. It must adhered to. I hope you'll agree. Our constitution has a specific direction (48) that states should enact laws for protection of Cows and calfs. All states, except Kerala, Bengal, Assam and the North Eastern states except Manipur) have enacted Laws to ban Cow slaughter. This law was enacted in Jammu and Kashmir in 1932 and the said law has been held proper by state High Court. These Laws are in operation since last 60 years under Congress rule. Demand to implement these laws effectively in states where these exist and demand to enact such laws where these are not is not improper and is perfectly Constitutional. ,.

In 2003, Cuba brought ban on Cow slaughter as an effort to recover its farmers from deep Economic crisis. None described this as intolerance. Every country in Arabia has banned import and sales of Pork. You hide such informations and project a view as though these are all Handiwork of Shri Modi Govt.

"Adhyatmik Persons have strength enough to face dire poverty and worst crises, but "Rationalists" break down at Crisis time". You are the best example to confirm this statement. Your film Vishwaroopam was opposed by Islamik Terrorists. Faced with total loss of your life-long earnings and a sure insolvency, you had declared in desperate tone that you'll quit our country and settle in the USA. Rationalists worship Money, Pleasure and Comforts. When there is a threat to these, you are sure to break down, and you did. None of Ahyatmik person would do any such thing.

And lastly, you knelt down before their terror threats and agreed to one and all of their demands. When we suggested to you in peaceful way to delete a few dialogues, which we felt were offensive to our sentiments, you not merely ignored but mocked at it. Not only you, all the "rationalists" bow down to violent and terror groups. So, I'll conclude that you rationalists are mere cowards, who have heroic Dialogues for the simple and peaceful community but tremble before violent and rogue community. If you hurt the simpleton, God will hurt you.
