PHRASES IN THE GITA - 26

जहि शत्रुं महाबाहो कामरूपं दुरासदम्  (अध्याय ३ - श्लोक ४३)
ஜஹி  ஶத்ரும்  மஹாபாஹோ  காமரூபம் துராஸதம்... (அத்யாயம் 3 - ஶ்லோகம் 43)
Jahi Shathrum Mahaabaaho Kaamaroopam DhuraaSadham.  (Chapter 3 - Shlokam 43)

Meaning :  Destroy Kaama or Desire, the Unsiezable Foe.

Desire is a foe, because it diverts the focus from wherever it is engaged.  It is a foe because it causes downfall from the ascending path of Work, Achievement, a fuller Life to a descending path of scattered mind, inefficient work, and lustful life.

It is not a simple foe. It is a tough foe, unassailable, a very difficult foe to win over,  Desire can neither be won over by forcibly suppressing it nor by feeding the mind with desired object.  Suppression causes restlessness.  The stronger the suppression, the more intense the desire grows.  Feeding the desire on the other hand, though satisfying momentarily, invariably ignites greed for more feeds.  Feeding a desire is like feeding fire with Ghee.  Ghee does not put off the fire but aggravates it.

More and more feeds in an effort to satiate the desire leads to a state of intoxication and addiction.  In extreme cases, the mind refuses to engage in anything else but the act of satiating the desire.

Desirelessness is the solution.  There have been many experiments in quest of a desireless mind.  But, each of these ways demands rigorous PRACTICE.  (I did not say Continuous ... because Practice inherently goes with consistency.)  Each one of us has to find the way that suits most.

(இசைக்கும் மொழி கிடையாது . கவிதைக்குதான் மொழி . தமிழிசை மன்றம் என்பதெல்லாம் அபத்தம் .) தமிழகத்திற்கு வடக்கில் பாரத தேஶத்தின் அத்தனை ப்ராந்தங்களும் (கேரளம் தவிர்த்து) உள்ளன . தெலுங்கு , மராடீ , போஜ்புரி , குஜராதீ ... அனைத்து மொழிகளும் வட திஶையில் பேசப்படும் மொழிகள் .  இவை எல்லாம் வடமொழிகள் . (கன்யாகுமரி ஆளுக்கு சென்னை பாஷை கூட வடமொழிதான்) . இந்த எல்லா மொழிகளிலும் இந்த ஶப்தங்களுக்கு எழுத்துக்கள் உண்டு .   தெலுங்கில் జ  , స  , హ .. . என்றும் ,   கன்னடத்தில்   ಜ , ಸ , ಹ , ಕ್ಷ .. என்றும் , மராடீயில் . ज , स , ह , श , क्ष,.. என்றும் குஜராதியில்     જ , સ , હા , ક્ષ  , என்றும் ,   ப...

August 28th... Flying visit to Chennai..

ॐ Out of the net for three days. Fying visits to Chennai on 28th and to Erode on the 30th. 29th was Shravana Poornimaa, day for License renewal . Went to Chennai for inauguration of ABVP Karyalayam. There was a day long meet of old workers of Vidyarthi Parishad. Recall of memories is always a refreshing experience. Probably, that is the reason why many want to live with 'glorious' old memories. Those days when our only asset was Enthusiasm at its best. Karyalaya, funds, facilities like vehicle, phone, etc. support, numerical strength, and other resources were on the lower side. Peanuts, Tea, Walk, long and short ones. Nevertheless, it was a great experience with high level of affectionate team working and sharing, hectic activism, great dreams. Nagpur Sangam Chawl Karyalayam was a tiled hut, but was always full of students. Similar in Chennai Ezhumbur Karyalaya. Now, there is no paucity of resources.
