Sadhu is not Sannyaasee. Any one among us could be a Sadhu. When it is said that 'Sadhu is to be protected', it means that 'Sadhu Bhava' is to be nourished and protected. Benevolence is the closest word to mean Sadhu Bhavam. Kindness, compassion, Goodness... that is Sadhu Bhavam. 'This is to be done'.. That is the motivation for a Sadhu. He merely goes through Life and its various deeds with a dispassionate attitude. He has no expectation from these.
When desire and expectation are absent, there is no scope for misdeeds, scheming, vengeance, hatred, comparison, competition, Jealousy, arrogance, disappointment, grief, etc. in a Sadhu. Hence, a Sadhu, whether in a family, in a village, even in a jail, is a source of Peace, Joy, Enthusiasm, Clarity in thought, motivation for a great life.
Sadhu Bhava is not attainable through efforts and practice. It comes as Swabhava with birth. But, consistent efforts now may pave way for Sadhu Bhava in future, may well be in future births.
Shri Krishna declares that Sadhu Bhava, this attitude is to be nourished and protected and assures that there will be Avatar (Divine Incarnation) again and again, only to protect Sadhu Bhava.
