ந ப்ரஹ்ருஷ்யேத் ப்ரியம் ப்ராப்ய நோத்விஜேத் ப்ராப்ய ச அப்ரியம் ... (அத்யாயம் 5 - ஶ்லோகம் 20)
Na Prahrushyet Priyam Praapya Nodwijet Praapya cha Apriyam .. (Chapter 5 - Shlokam 20)
Meaning : No excitement while receiving to our liking ... No grief while receiving to our dislike ...
This singular Idea is again and again repeated by Shree Krishna in the Gita . Balance in Manas , Equilibrium in mind , Equipoise .. We may say this Idea is the central theme in the Gita .
To feel happy or elated, when you get what you like , is quite natural for a human . Similarly to feel displeasure or sad when you get what you dislike is also natural . But , is this elation or displeasure eternal , or at least long lasting ? No . Elation springs up at the moment you get to your liking and within a few miments or a few hours or at the most one or two days , gets evaporated . Similarly , displeasure is a definite experience at the moment of accosting something you dislike .. This also evaporates in a few moments or a few hours ..
Is it not ignorance to trying to plunge in something momentous ,? Is it not childish to catch something that is Virtual and mythical ? Come out of Ignorance .. Grow beyond childishness .. That is Shree Krishna's call in this oft repeated phrase .. If at all you wish to plunge , why try to plunge in ripples ? Take a plunge in Him / That ... which is Eternal... That which is Real ...
