PHRASES IN THE GITA - 97
ParamBhaavam Ajaananto avajaananti Maam Moodhaa ... (Chapter 9 - Shlokam 11)
Meaning : The Ignorant insults Me by not knowing Me as the Ultimate ...
They are ignorant .. Those who do not know Me are ignorant ... Those who do not know Me as The Ultimate are ignorant ... Those who do not know Me as The Divine in Human body are ignorant ... Those who can not see The Formless Paramaatman in the Form (Human Body) are ignorant . The ones who can not see Life beneath the Inert , Paramaatman beneath Prakruti are ignorant .
We assume a body and arrive on this earth only to fulfill our Vasanas of previous births ... Vasanas are essence of various desires we cherished . Vasanas travel with the Jeeva after death . Jeeva looks for a body and a family environment suitable to fulfill these Vasanas . We experience pains and pleasures in our lives as dictated by our own Vasanas . In our births , we are bound by Prakruti . We do not exercise any control over Prakruti .
The Divine , the Avatara arrive on the earth , take a body at their free will , out of compassion for humankind . They lead a life with total control over Prakruti . They are not bound by the rules of Prakruti . Shree Krishna says , "the ignorant does not realize this . He does not see the Divine beneath the human form . He just see the Divine Avatar as an ordinary soul in a human body , just like any other human .
We all fall in Shri Krishna's category of 'Ignorant' as we refuse to see the Divine in persons around us and merely see them as 'My mother' , 'My son' , 'My worker' and so on . This ignorance as per Shri Krishna .
Shri Krishna says , "I am insulted by these ignorant men .." Does it pain the Lord to be insulted ? No . He has taken a human form out of compassion for human kind . He is pained at the ignorance , because it deprives them of an opportunity for emancipation and progress towards Divine . How ?
"He is also a human like me , with all the defects , with all the shortcomings , with all the errors , with cravings for pleasures ... all like me" ... This thought will naturally drive him to justify his own blemishes and stop him from efforts to progress on the path towards the Divine .
Otherwise , he is trapped by the dupes posing as Divine , who impress these gullible with dramatic and huge mob following , 'stage-managed' miraculous acts , well designed make-ups and well rehearsed dialogues . These ignorant gullibles start chasing these 'forged Divinity' and start worshipping their images , palms and feet . In this way , they are deprived of their right to 'Real Emancipation' . Hence , Shri Krishna is annoyed and feels insulted .
