PHRASES IN THE GITA - 151
तेषां के योग वित्तमाः ? ... (अध्याय १२ - श्लोक १)
தேஷாம் கே யோகவித்தமாஹ ... ? (அத்யாயம் 12 - ஶ்லோகம் 1)
Teshaam Ke YogaVithTamaah ... ? (Chapter 12 - Shloka 1)
Meaning : Who is greater among the two types of devotees ?
This is a question by Arjuna .. Who is greater ? Who is better ? This is a common human trait .. Compare , give marks and grade .. aspire to acquire that which is graded as higher .. feel proud if it is already in possession ... This is nature of a common man .. After all , was Arjuna not a common human .. He had Shri Krishna by his side and hence leaves the task (of comparison , grading and deciding the better) to Shri Krishna .
Who among the two types of devotees is greater , the devotee who worships the Divine as Formless , Omnipresent , the invisible power behind everything in Creation , the Brahma or the Paramaatman .. or the devotee who worships Shri Krishna in Form (rather any Form) , decorates the Divine in Form , converses with the Divine through the Form , feeds the Form , Joyously surrenders to the Form ... Arjuna wants to know who among these two types of devotees is Greater .. Arjuna wants to know which among these two types of devotion is suited for emancipation of man .. Normally , we decide on such dilemmas on the basis of our own superficial experiences through senses and on petty discretionary capability of our Buddhi .. Arjuna on the other hand , leaves this to Shri Krishna .. That is greatest blessings of the Divine on Arjuna .. He had someone like Shri Krishna by his side .. We are equally blessed as this question by Arjuna gives birth to a beautiful elaboration on Devotion and devotee , Bhakti Yog ... the 12th chapter ..
