PHRASES IN THE GITA -155
सर्व भूत हिते ... (अध्याय १२ - श्लोक ४)
ஸர்வ பூத ஹிதே ... (அத்யாயம் 12 - ஶ்லோகம் 4)
Sarva Bhoota Hite ... (Chapter 12 - Shloka 4)
Meaning : For the good of all lives ...
To seek good of all lives .. to be benevolent towards all lives .. This is an essential quality for devotees of Formless Paramaatman , according to Shri Krishna .. He sees Paramaatman in every speck of creation . Every life is manifestation of the Paramaatman .. Sarvam Khalvidam Brahmam (Brahman exists everywhere!) Aham Brahmaasmi (I am Brahmam!) Tat Tvam Asi (Thou art That ! ) The BrahmaGyaani who has realized this Truth and the seeker aspiring to know this truth through devotion to the Formless Paramaatman obviously are benevolent and seek well being of all lives .. Only him who regards self as different from other lives tends to exploit those ..
Love is another version of Benevolence .. Pleasure as an experience as well as a word has an opposite experience and an antonym (Pain) .. Happiness has an antonym as well as an opposite experience .. But , Bliss in Samskrit (Ananda) has neither an opposite experience nor a word for that .. Other states can be attained .. Ananda or Bliss can not be attained through effort . It is the basic trait of the Creator and every life in His creation .. We may lose awareness of this basic Nature of ourselves but we can never lose or attain it .. Similar is Love .. Love can not be shown .. It is not an action .. It just flows out .. It reveals itself .. (Why ? Is hatred not the opposite of Love , you may be tempted to ask .. Not so .. Dislike is opposite of Like and hatred an extreme version of dislike .. To like and hate are actions .. To attach oneself with a thing , a person , an experience or a place is to like and the opposite is to hate .. These are artificial and not natural and basic traits ..)

To say , "I love this person or place or a thing" is not Love .. It may be called attachment , liking , infatuation or any such name .. To feed own child when neighbour's child is around saying I love my child ; to regard husband as 'mine and mine only' and to feel jealous when his mother and sisters relate with him (I love my husband !) ; to throw stone and chase away the street dog while walking pet dog ; to clean own yard and throw the garbage in neighbour's yard or on the road ; saying I love my home ; these are exhibits of such an attachment .. This is not Love . but mere attachment . It is unreal . It is lowly . It is potent enough to cause our fall too ..
Love is like the fragrance of a flower .. The flower fills itself with the fragrance .. Nay .. That is not right .. The flower is its fragrance .. The natural state of the flower is the fragrance .. The fragrance just emanates from the flower .. The flower has no role .. Anyone who comes near the flower experiences joy of pleasant fragrance .. There are no preferences or prejudices .. Love is similar .. It fill up in the mind (or heart) as the basic nature and flows out .. Anyone coming closer may experience the bliss of Love .. There is no wonder that such a person with a heart brimming with Love seeks well being of all ..
This is very difficult , according to Shri Krishna ..
