Meaning : Give up all desires for attaining fruits of actions ...
This is one of the suggestions made by Shri Krishna to devotees of Shri Paramaatman in Saguna Saakaara Roopa (Lord in Form and with Attributes) .. Perform actions for Me , He had said .. Now , He asks to give up fruits of actions ..
Every action bears its fruits .. Desire for the Fruits is in fact motivation for action .. Desire to attain the fruits is the cause of action ..If it is definitely known that there is no fruit to be gained from an action , the action will not be performed .. This is commonly prevalent attitude in people around us ..
Give up the fruits of action ..He does not mean discard of fruits .. "Never take the resultant fruits of your actions" is not the suggestion from Shri Krishna .. His suggestion is to give up the desire for fruits .. to stop chasing the fruits .. "Do not claim natural right over the fruits" says Shri Krishna .. 'I' or 'Me' raises its head as soon as the claim to rights over fruits springs up in us .. Ego or Me feeling and devotion do not go hand in hand .. Surrender is basic to devotion .. Surrender of ego is the toughest challenge .. It is difficult but essential for devotion ..
