हर्षामर्ष भयोद्वेगैर्मुक्तः । (अध्याय १२ - श्लोक १५)
ஹர்ஷாமர்ஷபயோத்வேகைஹ் முக்தஹ் ... (அத்யாயம் 12 - ஶ்லோகம் 15)
HarshaamarshaBhayodhvegaih Muktah .. (Chapter 12 - Shlokam 15)
Meaning : One who is rid of euphoria , jealousy , fear , excitement etc .
"Passions ignited" they say .. Yes .. Passions cause disturbance in mind .. Mind ought to attain peace and equilibrium .. The faculty of 'thinking' remains alive and active in this state of mind .. Buddhi , the faculty which discriminates right from the wrong , works at its best in this state ..
"Possessed by passion" they say .. We ought to be on our own .. The conscious self ought to influence our actions .. But , passions generated tend to possess the Self and influence his / her actions .. Actions performed under suggestions from Buddhi , the faculty of discretion should be right .. But , actions under the influence of passions may not always be the right actions ..
Euphoria is not mere happiness or joy .. Happiness or Joy leaves pleasant impact on mind .. It does not disturb peace within .. Euphoria is an excited state .. There is restlessness associated with it .. Depression is the opposite state .. Jealousy too causes intense disturbance within .. Jealousy may prompt improper actions .. Fear also is an unstable state .. Even the senses fail to function properly under the influence of fear ..
These passions may cause downfall of a devotee .. That is why Shri Krishna declares him to be His dearest devotee , who is rid of these and other such passions ..
