PHRASES IN THE GITA - 177
अध्यात्मज्ञाननित्यत्त्वम् ... (अध्याय १३ - श्लोक ११)
அத்யாத்ம க்ஞான நித்யத்வம் .. (அத்யாயம் 13 - ஶ்லோகம் 11)
Adhyaatma Gyaana Nityattvam .. (Chapter 13 - Shlokam 11)
Meaning : To remain continuously engrossed in Adhyaatma thoughts ..
How do we involve in worldly thoughts if we always remain in Adhyatmik thoughts ?? Are worldly actions possible without worldly thoughts ?? Are worldly actions possible even while being engrossed in Adhyaatmik thoughts ??
Shri Narada thus explains 'Devotion' in Narada Bhakti Sootra .. "Bhakti is not listening to Spiritual discourses .. Bhakti is not visiting Temples .. Bhakti is living a life like the Gopikas of Brindavan .. They too involved in normal activities like anyone of us .. The visible exterior had no difference .. But , they performed all their actions for Him ,, for Shri Krishna , the adorable child ..
To do works for 'self' , to do with a feeling of 'I' am doing this' is Samsaari or worldly .. These same works , if done for Him , is Adhyaatmik .. Samsaari or Loukeeka exhausts and tires .. Adhyaatm induces Joy ..
If one can perform his worldly actions while being engrossed in Adhyaatmik thoughts , every action of his becomes Spiritual Sadhana .. He does not need special adhyaatmik pursuits .. And if he adopts any spiritual practice , his mind casually and easily gets engrossed in it .. His pursuits are not disturbed by worldly thoughts .. On the other hand , if one engrossed in worldly thoughts while performing worldly actions , tries to practice any Spiritual Sadhana , these very worldly thoughts disturb and derail his pursuit ..
Most of us postpone Adhyaatmik thoughts and Spiritual practices to the later part of life , after finishing all worldly works and after retirement from worldly life .. only because it is difficult to keep away worldly thoughts .. They may have retired from worldly activities but never get rid of worldly thoughts .. right up to the last moment , right up to the last breath .. They live life bound by by worldly thoughts ..
