PHRASES IN THE GITA - 178

Sarvatah PaaniPaadam Sarvatah Shiromukham Sarvatah ShrutiMalloke  ..  (Chapter 13 - Shlokam 13)

Meaning :  He has His arms and Legs , Eyes , Heads and mouths and Ears everywhere ..

This is description of Niraakaara Saguna Paramaatman ..  Shri Krishna described Nirguna Niraakaara Paramaatman in the previous shlokam ..  This is the strength and beauty of Hindu Dharma ..  Hindu Dharma can encompass any form of worship , any concept on God , any Religion ..  It has not restricted itself on Ideas , on Prophets , on practices ..  It is Universal ..  It has survived and will survive limitations of Time ..  It reaches beyond frontiers of communities and Nations ..

The Paramaatman has His Arms , Legs , Eyes , Ears , Mouths and Heads .. everywhere ..  The Bhavana in devotee is important ..  If a devotee , offers to anyone anywhere with Parama Bhavana , the Lord's Arms are there to receive his offerings ..  If his offerings are mere wishes in his mind , the Lord's arms extend there too to receive the same ..  If a devotee stumbles , His arms are nearby to hold him ..

If the devotee bends down with reverence and bows anyone anywhere , Paramaatman's Feet are there to receive his worship ..  If the devotee wants to see His face , there is His face nearby smiling and blessing him ..  His Eyes are everywhere to watch him , guide him and prevent him from fall ..  His Eyes can see devotees thoughts deep inside his heart ..  Devotee can feed Him anywhere , with the Bhavana of Kuchela and Vidura ..  and there are His mouths to receive the food fed by Devotee ..  Devotees prayers , even unspoken wishes in his mind are heard by Paramaatman's ears ..  Purusha Sukta says , "Sahasra Sheersha Purushah Sahasraaksha Sahasra Paad" ..  Shree Paramaatman is there , all pervading , instantly available for His devotee .. through thousands of His Arms , Feet , Eyes , Ears , Faces and Mouths ..  to watch , to listen and respond , to receive , to hold , to guide and to protect His devotee ..

Shree Paramaatman abodes in far off Kailash , in Vaikuntha ..  Sure .. No doubt about that ..  But He pervades every inch of this world , every where ..  He reaches His devotee within fraction of a second , nay , the very moment ..  Light travels at a faster pace than sound ..  Divine Grace travels at pace many times faster than Light ..  When Draupadi was in distress in the court of Duryodhana and she raised her hands and called out 'He Parama Dhama' .. Shri Krishna was there the same instant , in the form of Sarees , heaps of Sarees ..  He did not have to travel from far off Dwarikaa ..  When Draupadi was in distress again in the forests and remembered Shri Krishna , He was there at her doorsteps and fed Durvasa and his thousand disciples and rescued Draupadi from anguish ..  When Gajendra , with his foot trapped in the mouth of the crocodile , offered a lotus and called out 'Hey Achyuta' , there was Shri Mahavishnu to rescue him ..

"Savatah PaaniPaadam Sarvatokshi ShiroMukham Sarvatah ShrutiMalloke !!!"

Chapter X (19 - 42)

Shri Bhagawan said:   I shall speak to Thee now, Oh best of the Kurus! of My Divine attributes, according to their prominence;   there is no end to the particulars of My manifestation. (X - 19) Arjuna asks for a detailed and complete elaboration on His manifestations.   Shri Krishna replies He will be brief in description.   Why?   ‘My manifestations are infinite’, says Shri Krishna.   Shri Krishna is in human form.   The Infinite Paramaatman has bound Himself in a finite Form.   A finite can not fully describe an Infinite.   The same Shri Krishna in the next chapter says, “See My Infinite Forms.   See as much as you wish”, when Arjuna expresses his desire to see His one Form.   Brief in words and Elaborate in Form.;. The discussion in the last shlokam continues here.   The listener’s ahankara tries to fathom the speaker.   The listener, Arj

Chapter IV (1 - 20)

\   ADHYAAY IV   GYANA KARMA SANYASA YOGAM Introduction This chapter named ‘Gnyana Karma Sanyasa Yog’ is a special one, as this is where Shri Krishna reveals the secrets of Avatara to Arjuna. We, as human have a natural weakness.  When a great thought is placed before us, instead of analysing the thought, understanding it and trying to put it into practise, almost all of us start worshipping the person who revealed the thought.  Worship of the Cross and the idols of Buddha can be quoted as examples.  One of the reasons for this may be that we deem him to be the originator of the thought.  Truths are eternal and can only be revealed and not invented.  You ask any educated person about ahimsa or non-violence.  You should not be surprised if he instantly come up with the answer, “Gandhi”.  You try to clarify that ‘almost two thousand years ago Shri Mahaveer based his life and religion solely on the principle of Ahimsa’ and ‘hundreds of years prior to that the Vedas, the Gi
