PHRASES IN THE GITA - 183


श्रुतिपरायणाः  ..  (अध्याय १३ - श्लोक २५)
ஶ்ருதி பராயணாஹ ..  (அத்யாயம் 13 - ஶ்லோகம் 25)
Shruthi Paraayanaah ..  (Chapter 13 - Shlokam 25)

Meaning :  One who tries to Live as he 'listens' ..

Shruti is "that which is listened" ..  Paraayanaah is "to meditate on" ..  Shruti Paraayanaah is "to meditate on what is listened" ..  "to register within what is listened" ..  "to follow in life what is listened" ..

We move around in this world with our ears open ..  All the sounds generated around us enter the ears ..  There is no provision to shut and prevent these sounds from entering ..  Disinterest in the world and refusal to station the mind behind these ears are the only ways to prevent the sounds around from entering the ears ..

Shruti Paraayanaah ..  Ponder over what is listened ..  Live according to what is listened ..  That does not mean , we should listen to any word by any Tom , Dick and Harry on the street ..  Listening is a work .. a conscious act ..  Shruti Paraayanaah has a firm decision behind it ..  Decision on "what is to be listened" ..  "Whom is to be listened to" is a better decision ..  A Guru is to be searched for and found ..  A Guru suiting our Nature , the doubts in us and the experiences in our Life ..  We should serve the Guru , sit at his feet and listen to what he says ..  This is Shruti ..  This has to be thought upon , digested and followed in life ..

If the inner psyche is clear , if what we are looking for in life is doubtless and clear , any word listened to may become Shruti ..  Any word , spoken by anyone , nay , even sounds by animals and birds could become Shruti , worth being pondered upon and followed in life ..  On the other hand , in the absence of clarity , listening to words of anyone and everyone and efforts to follow those may lead to storms of confusion and delusion within and may turn the life into a directionless journey ..

Shruti is the name ascribed to the Vedas ..  (The Vedas were not written by anyone .. These were listened to and discovered ..  Vedas are to be listened to and learnt , not read from written texts ..  Hence the Vedas are called Shruti ..)  Shruti Paraayanaah is to listen to Vedas ..  to lead a life as per the diktats of the Vedas ..  Shri Krishna Shruti Paraayan also in the many paths He names , paths which will lead us towards Him ..

(இசைக்கும் மொழி கிடையாது . கவிதைக்குதான் மொழி . தமிழிசை மன்றம் என்பதெல்லாம் அபத்தம் .) தமிழகத்திற்கு வடக்கில் பாரத தேஶத்தின் அத்தனை ப்ராந்தங்களும் (கேரளம் தவிர்த்து) உள்ளன . தெலுங்கு , மராடீ , போஜ்புரி , குஜராதீ ... அனைத்து மொழிகளும் வட திஶையில் பேசப்படும் மொழிகள் .  இவை எல்லாம் வடமொழிகள் . (கன்யாகுமரி ஆளுக்கு சென்னை பாஷை கூட வடமொழிதான்) . இந்த எல்லா மொழிகளிலும் இந்த ஶப்தங்களுக்கு எழுத்துக்கள் உண்டு .   தெலுங்கில் జ  , స  , హ .. . என்றும் ,   கன்னடத்தில்   ಜ , ಸ , ಹ , ಕ್ಷ .. என்றும் , மராடீயில் . ज , स , ह , श , क्ष,.. என்றும் குஜராதியில்     જ , સ , હા , ક્ષ  , என்றும் ,   ப...

August 28th... Flying visit to Chennai..

ॐ Out of the net for three days. Fying visits to Chennai on 28th and to Erode on the 30th. 29th was Shravana Poornimaa, day for License renewal . Went to Chennai for inauguration of ABVP Karyalayam. There was a day long meet of old workers of Vidyarthi Parishad. Recall of memories is always a refreshing experience. Probably, that is the reason why many want to live with 'glorious' old memories. Those days when our only asset was Enthusiasm at its best. Karyalaya, funds, facilities like vehicle, phone, etc. support, numerical strength, and other resources were on the lower side. Peanuts, Tea, Walk, long and short ones. Nevertheless, it was a great experience with high level of affectionate team working and sharing, hectic activism, great dreams. Nagpur Sangam Chawl Karyalayam was a tiled hut, but was always full of students. Similar in Chennai Ezhumbur Karyalaya. Now, there is no paucity of resources.
