Na Lipyate ... Na Upalipyate .. (Chapter 13 - Shloka 31 , 32)
Meaning : Does not stick .. Does not get attached ..
This is an oft repeated phrase in the Gita .. The Aatma does not get attached .. Shree Paramaatman does not get attached .. It is omni-present .. It encompasses every inch in creation .. It is seated in every life .. Yet , It does not stick to Creation .. It does not get attached with anything , anywhere .. It Is . Yet , It Is not ..
The wind carries scents , pleasant as well as unpleasant .. We experience an odour , only if there is wind and only if the wind touches our nostrils .. (Wind is flow of air ..) In the absence of wind , we fail to experience smell , even if it has filled up the atmosphere .. Yet , the wind does not get attached with smells .. It is the other way round .. The smell gets attached to wind ..
Sun touches everything in the world with its arms , arms of light rays .. Everything is brightened by Sun rays .. Yet , the Sun and Sun rays do not get attached with anything ..
The sky is prevalent everywhere but does not get attached to anything ..
These are subtle aspects in Nature .. Shri Paramaatman is Subtlest .. Aatman , a speck of the Paramaatman is subtle too .. Hence , do not get attached ..
We have forgotten our real Identity , the Real Me , the Aatman .. We are identified with false and unreal 'Me' .. Hence , we feel attached with the Inert .. Once the ignorance is removed , once the Real Me is revealed , we will not be attached with the Inert , with the body , with articles like land , assets , money etc . with other Jeevs like wife , children etc ..
