PHRASES IN THE GITA - 221


अल्प बुद्धयः  (अध्याय १६ - श्लोक ९)
அல்ப புத்தயஹ  ..  (அத்யாயம் 16 - ஶ்லோகம் 9)
Alpa Budhdhayah  (Chapter 16 - Shloka 9)

Meaning :  Asura is equipped with petty mind and narrow vision ..

Alpa is a word used for scolding in our homes ..  Alpa means petty , small ..  Desiring petty things , worrying for small things , grieving for petty losses or disappointments , regarding self as very small being .. etc . expressions of 'Alpa Buddhi' or petty mind ..  Some who get satisfied with small gains are called 'alpa-santushta' ..

Asura or persons with demoniac attitude has 'alpa buddhi' says Shri Krishna ..  We are quintessence of the Paramaatman who is 'without any beginning or end , eternal , Omnipotent , Omnipresent , Omniscient , One who sustains all' ..  Instead of identifying self with Shri Paramaatman , the asura regards self a mere body , perishable , short lived , very limited potentials , strength and intellect , a small fry in creation which has to rely on others even for satisfaction of petty desires and needs ..

In the present day world , those who talk communism and those who blare the 'no God' slogan exhibit alpa buddhi or petty mind ..  In their view , 'this is the only one world' , 'this is the only one chance for living and enjoying' , 'physical body is everything' , 'sensual pleasures are the only objective in life' ..  'God , penance , Adhyaatma , Restrictions , regulation , character , devotion , patriotism , simplicity , sacrifice , truthfulness , honesty etc . are myths and fictitious creations of empty minds' ..  'Religion , Marriage , Family , Country etc . are institutions which are to be destroyed' ..

These petty minds obstinately holding on to petty ideas have toiled hard to instill their ideology in this world ..  The communists captured governments in eastern Europe and China and tried to foist their ideas for sixty years ..  The 'no God' slogan shouting Kazhagam mobs captured government in TamilNadu and have been trying since last sixty years to foist their petty ideas ..  What is the impact of these demoniac ideas on world , on the people , on society , has been pretty well described by Shri Krishna , 5153 years back ..  We'll see that in the next part of this series ..

(இசைக்கும் மொழி கிடையாது . கவிதைக்குதான் மொழி . தமிழிசை மன்றம் என்பதெல்லாம் அபத்தம் .) தமிழகத்திற்கு வடக்கில் பாரத தேஶத்தின் அத்தனை ப்ராந்தங்களும் (கேரளம் தவிர்த்து) உள்ளன . தெலுங்கு , மராடீ , போஜ்புரி , குஜராதீ ... அனைத்து மொழிகளும் வட திஶையில் பேசப்படும் மொழிகள் .  இவை எல்லாம் வடமொழிகள் . (கன்யாகுமரி ஆளுக்கு சென்னை பாஷை கூட வடமொழிதான்) . இந்த எல்லா மொழிகளிலும் இந்த ஶப்தங்களுக்கு எழுத்துக்கள் உண்டு .   தெலுங்கில் జ  , స  , హ .. . என்றும் ,   கன்னடத்தில்   ಜ , ಸ , ಹ , ಕ್ಷ .. என்றும் , மராடீயில் . ज , स , ह , श , क्ष,.. என்றும் குஜராதியில்     જ , સ , હા , ક્ષ  , என்றும் ,   ப...

(अध्याय ४ - श्लोक १३) சாதுர்வர்ண்யம் மயா ஸ்ருஷ்டம் குண கர்ம விபாகஶஹ்  ...  (அத்யாயம் 4 - ஶ்லோகம் 13) Chatur VarNyam Mayaa Srushtam GuNa Karma Vibhaagashah ... August 28th... Flying visit to Chennai..

ॐ Out of the net for three days. Fying visits to Chennai on 28th and to Erode on the 30th. 29th was Shravana Poornimaa, day for License renewal . Went to Chennai for inauguration of ABVP Karyalayam. There was a day long meet of old workers of Vidyarthi Parishad. Recall of memories is always a refreshing experience. Probably, that is the reason why many want to live with 'glorious' old memories. Those days when our only asset was Enthusiasm at its best. Karyalaya, funds, facilities like vehicle, phone, etc. support, numerical strength, and other resources were on the lower side. Peanuts, Tea, Walk, long and short ones. Nevertheless, it was a great experience with high level of affectionate team working and sharing, hectic activism, great dreams. Nagpur Sangam Chawl Karyalayam was a tiled hut, but was always full of students. Similar in Chennai Ezhumbur Karyalaya. Now, there is no paucity of resources.
