PHRASES IN THE GITA - 226


प्रलयान्तामुपाश्रिताः ..  (अध्याय १६ - श्लोक ११)
ப்ரலயாந்தாம் உபாஶ்ரிதாஹ் ..  (அத்யாயம் 16 - ஶ்லோகம் 11)
Pralyaantaam Upaashritaah ..  (Chapter 16 - Shloka 11)

Meaning :  प्रलय काल तक की अवश्यकताओं के लिये संग्रह करना  ..

Man has needs ..  Objects have to be procured for fulfilling those needs ..  For instance , food is to be readied for satiating hunger ..  The materials for preparing food have to be bought daily ..  If one has suitable arrangement , he may collect materials for a week or a month ..  But , what if one wants to collect the complete requirement for the whole life ??  This is what Shri Krishna calls as Asuri Vrutti or demoniac attitude ..

To collect and store materials is seen as adversely affecting spiritual practice ..  Aparigraha is a Divine attribute ..  Patanjali Yog Sutra names Aparigraha as one of the five basic Tenets (Yama) ..  Aparigraha is 'refusal to collect and store for future requirement ..  Aparigraha is to live with minimums ..

Collection and accumulation of materials is harmful in economic and environmental view ..  Today's economic view encourages buying .. The more you buy , the more is it healthier for economy , they say ..  The effect of this we see in our houses ..  Our houses have turned into godowns of materials of all sorts ..  Buy anything you see ..  Buy anything that has been discounted ..  Buy anything that comes with an offer ..  Buy anything that is attractively packed ..  Buy on credit ..  Buy without any thought on usefulness and necessity ..  Now , with bar-code , buy without looking at the cost ..  Our houses are so full of materials that there is no space for humans to move around freely ..  Heaps of chappals , shoes , mobiles , chargers , plastic items , furniture in every household ..  The street corner garbage tanks are filled up and overflowing ..  Garbage from cities are being dumped and heaped on acres of land in villages ..  Garbage from powerful countries is being dumped in poorer and helpless countries ..  Rivers and oceans have been contaminated with tons of garbage ..

The comical drama being enacted on plastic is well known to us ..  They created plastic ..  They manufactured plastic ..  They flooded market with plastic ..  They altered public habits ..  Now , they are screaming and advising us not to use plastic ..  Common man is being punished for using plastic ..

(இசைக்கும் மொழி கிடையாது . கவிதைக்குதான் மொழி . தமிழிசை மன்றம் என்பதெல்லாம் அபத்தம் .) தமிழகத்திற்கு வடக்கில் பாரத தேஶத்தின் அத்தனை ப்ராந்தங்களும் (கேரளம் தவிர்த்து) உள்ளன . தெலுங்கு , மராடீ , போஜ்புரி , குஜராதீ ... அனைத்து மொழிகளும் வட திஶையில் பேசப்படும் மொழிகள் .  இவை எல்லாம் வடமொழிகள் . (கன்யாகுமரி ஆளுக்கு சென்னை பாஷை கூட வடமொழிதான்) . இந்த எல்லா மொழிகளிலும் இந்த ஶப்தங்களுக்கு எழுத்துக்கள் உண்டு .   தெலுங்கில் జ  , స  , హ .. . என்றும் ,   கன்னடத்தில்   ಜ , ಸ , ಹ , ಕ್ಷ .. என்றும் , மராடீயில் . ज , स , ह , श , क्ष,.. என்றும் குஜராதியில்     જ , સ , હા , ક્ષ  , என்றும் ,   ப...

(अध्याय ४ - श्लोक १३) சாதுர்வர்ண்யம் மயா ஸ்ருஷ்டம் குண கர்ம விபாகஶஹ்  ...  (அத்யாயம் 4 - ஶ்லோகம் 13) Chatur VarNyam Mayaa Srushtam GuNa Karma Vibhaagashah ... August 28th... Flying visit to Chennai..

ॐ Out of the net for three days. Fying visits to Chennai on 28th and to Erode on the 30th. 29th was Shravana Poornimaa, day for License renewal . Went to Chennai for inauguration of ABVP Karyalayam. There was a day long meet of old workers of Vidyarthi Parishad. Recall of memories is always a refreshing experience. Probably, that is the reason why many want to live with 'glorious' old memories. Those days when our only asset was Enthusiasm at its best. Karyalaya, funds, facilities like vehicle, phone, etc. support, numerical strength, and other resources were on the lower side. Peanuts, Tea, Walk, long and short ones. Nevertheless, it was a great experience with high level of affectionate team working and sharing, hectic activism, great dreams. Nagpur Sangam Chawl Karyalayam was a tiled hut, but was always full of students. Similar in Chennai Ezhumbur Karyalaya. Now, there is no paucity of resources.
