Meaning : Action that is in accordance with scriptures , performed without any attachment or aversion and without any attachment with fruits is Saattvika ..
Actions in accordance with Scriptures .. Science just prescribes principles governing Nature .. It is beneficial if we adhere to these principles and damaging if we don't ..
The Constitution or Law book merely prescribes various Laws governing social behaviour .. It does not go beyond , 'what is to be done and what not' .. If we follow these laws , it is beneficial , otherwise harmful ..
Similarly , the Shastras or the scriptures mention guiding principles in the field of Dharma .. actions to be pursued , actions to be avoided etc .. Actions within the bounds of Shastra or scriptures do good to us and contrary ones negatively affect us ..
To perform actions under the lure of good happening to us or avoiding action for the fear of bad consequences is not good either .. Actions need to be performed without attachment or aversion and without attachment with the fruits thereof .. Such actions are Saattvika .. Conviction on the Shastra should be the only factor inducing action ..
