PHRASES IN THE GITA - 267


मुक्त सङ्गोSनहंवादि धृत्युत्साह समन्वितः सिद्ध्यसिद्ध्योः निर्विकारः कर्ता सात्त्विक ...  (अध्याय १८ - श्लोक २६)
முக்தஸங்கோ(அ)னஹம்வாதி த்ருத்யுத்ஸாஹ ஸமன்விதஹ ஸித்யஸித்யோர் நிர்விகாரஹ கர்தா ஸாத்விக . (அத்யாயம் 18 - ஶ்லோகம் 26)
Mukta Sango(a)nahamvaadi Dhrutyutsaaha Samanvithah Siddhyasiddhyoh Nirvikaarah Kartaa Saattvika ..  (Chapter 18 - Shlokam 26)

Meaning :  He is a Sattvika Kartaa , who is bestowed with 'detachment' , absence of 'me' feeling , who is filled with determination and enthusiasm and who is not disturbed by successes and failures ..

The best stimulation for a work is attachment with the work ;  fruits from a work are the best motivation to do the work ;  success in a work raises inspiration and enthusiasm in mind ;  failure in a work soaks up enthusiasm ;  these and other such ideas are prevalent ..  But , on a deeper thinking these ideas prove to be superficial ..

Yes .. it is true that attachment with the work creates interest in the work , thereby raises enthusiasm fro the work ..  But , this enthusiasm may not be long lasting and may dry up due to other factors ..  Hence , conviction that "this work deserves to be done" or "to do this is my duty" is the best stimulation for the work ..  Similarly , attraction for fruits of work is a good stimulant for work , no doubt ..  But , this attraction for fruit also distracts mind from the work and hence reduces the efficiency best needed for the work ..  Success in work adds to enthusiasm ..  But , success or failure in a work depend on so many other factors and not merely sincere performance of the work ..  Hence , continuance of work irrespective of success or failure can be the best attitude ..

The person with Sattvik Guna has this attitude ..

(இசைக்கும் மொழி கிடையாது . கவிதைக்குதான் மொழி . தமிழிசை மன்றம் என்பதெல்லாம் அபத்தம் .) தமிழகத்திற்கு வடக்கில் பாரத தேஶத்தின் அத்தனை ப்ராந்தங்களும் (கேரளம் தவிர்த்து) உள்ளன . தெலுங்கு , மராடீ , போஜ்புரி , குஜராதீ ... அனைத்து மொழிகளும் வட திஶையில் பேசப்படும் மொழிகள் .  இவை எல்லாம் வடமொழிகள் . (கன்யாகுமரி ஆளுக்கு சென்னை பாஷை கூட வடமொழிதான்) . இந்த எல்லா மொழிகளிலும் இந்த ஶப்தங்களுக்கு எழுத்துக்கள் உண்டு .   தெலுங்கில் జ  , స  , హ .. . என்றும் ,   கன்னடத்தில்   ಜ , ಸ , ಹ , ಕ್ಷ .. என்றும் , மராடீயில் . ज , स , ह , श , क्ष,.. என்றும் குஜராதியில்     જ , સ , હા , ક્ષ  , என்றும் ,   ப...

August 28th... Flying visit to Chennai..

ॐ Out of the net for three days. Fying visits to Chennai on 28th and to Erode on the 30th. 29th was Shravana Poornimaa, day for License renewal . Went to Chennai for inauguration of ABVP Karyalayam. There was a day long meet of old workers of Vidyarthi Parishad. Recall of memories is always a refreshing experience. Probably, that is the reason why many want to live with 'glorious' old memories. Those days when our only asset was Enthusiasm at its best. Karyalaya, funds, facilities like vehicle, phone, etc. support, numerical strength, and other resources were on the lower side. Peanuts, Tea, Walk, long and short ones. Nevertheless, it was a great experience with high level of affectionate team working and sharing, hectic activism, great dreams. Nagpur Sangam Chawl Karyalayam was a tiled hut, but was always full of students. Similar in Chennai Ezhumbur Karyalaya. Now, there is no paucity of resources.
