Ayukthah Praakruthah Stabdhah Shathah Naishkruthikah Alasah Vishaadhee Deergha Sootri Kartaa Taamasa .. (Chapter 18 - Shlokam 28)
Meaning : Indisciplined , vulgar , obstinate , cunning , deceitful , slothful , unhappy or morose , proscratinating - such is a Tamasi Kartaa ..
Delusion , ignorance , laziness , lack of awareness , sleep etc . are the traits of a Tamasi .. The various qualities listed by Shri Krishna while describing are but manifestation of these basic traits ..
Ayuktah : Absence of Yog .. Indisciplined ,.. Unaware of what is to be done and what is not to be .. Absence of focus of mind .. Inefficient .. Lack of dedication ..
Praakrutah : Vulgar .. Un - cultured .. As he entered the world .. One who does not know worldly conduct .. Lack of education ..
Stabdhah : Inert .. Violent .. Rigidity .. Inability to be humble .. The rigidity of a Rajasi is due to arrogance .. The rigidity of a Tamasi is due to absence of thinking ..
Shatha : One who blindly holds on to an idea without giving space to any other thought ..
Naishkrutikah : One who tends to do deceit-ful acts .. dishonest .. ingratitude ..
Alasah : Lazy .. slothful .. He does not know his duties .. He is not aware of worldly duties .. He wastes away time in unworthy acts , laziness , chit chats and petty entertainments ..
Vishaadi : Unhappy .. dissatisfied due to good lives led by others and pitiable life of self .. Yet , unable to correct self ..
Deergha Sootri .. One who postpones .. Never attends to work on hand .. The present moment is always spent on un-worthy acts ..
