Meaning : Happiness is Rajasik when it is derived from the contact of senses with their objects .. It is like nectar in the beginning and like poison in effect ..
All the pleasures we know are born out of union of our sense organs and objects .. When the eyes unite with scenes or ears with sounds , the nose with scents or the tongue with tastes or the skin with objects through touch , experiences are generated .. The pleasant ones among these experiences are known as pleasures and the unpleasant ones as pains .. Such pleasures are also known as sensual or physical pleasures ..
These pleasures are generated by and known through only sense organs .. These are experienced (enjoyed or disliked) only by mind .. All these pleasures are sweet and nectar like in the beginning .. The mind is enthralled by these pleasures in the beginning .. The mind seeks repeated experience of these pleasures .. But , these pleasures turn painful in due course .. Pain is the resultant effect of these pleasures ..
Sense organs unite with their respective objects .. The sense organs are exhausted and lose their efficiency .. The union with objects is not pleasurable for the mind .. Old age also causes the same effect on sense organs .. The mind seeks pleasures .. But , the inefficient organs can not satisfy the mind , hence causing pain and anguish .. Diseases in the body also affect the organs in similar way ..
The objects in the world have limited availability and the number of persons seeking these objects is high .. The restricted availability of objects and hence denial also causes pain in the mind ..
