Meaning : Happiness is Tamasik when it is derived from sleep , indolence and negligence and which covers Nature of self from beginning to the end ..
The most prominent traits of Tamas or Tamo Guna are laziness , sleep , indolence and negligence .. Delusion , absence of consciousness and lack of memory are the resultant status in a person with predominant Tamo Guna .. A few of the pleasures intoxicate and engulfs self - awareness .. Should we call these 'pleasures' ?? Yes .. these are pleasures as these are repeatedly sought by many .. Alcohol , intoxicating drugs are also pleasurable for a few .. All such pleasures which cause delusion and which diminish self - awareness are Tamasik pleasures ..
Attraction and desire for these pleasures are born in a state of 'intoxication' and lack of 'consciousness' ... Desire would not be born in absence of delusion .. Again , resultant effect of these 'pleasures' is delusion and intoxication ..
It appears as though the intoxication and resultant Tamasik pleasure is born in the materials .. But , the pleasure is born in Buddhi , deluded by the Tamasik nature .. The pleasure is born 'semi - conscious' or intoxicated Buddhi ..
