PHRASES IN THE GITA - 285
Svabhava Niyatam Karma Kurvannaapnoti Kilbisham ... (Chapter 18 - Shloka 47)
Meaning : One does not incur sin through actions based on Swabhava (Inherent Nature) ...
Shri Krishna's suggestion here does not apply for crimes and illegal activities .. A murderer or a fraudster can not quote Shri Krishna and save himself from Police action and punishment saying , "Oh ! this action was the result of my inherent Nature" ..
Actions based on Swadharma do not accrue sin , says Shri Krishna .. One does not incur sin for actions manifesting out of his inherent Nature ., according to Shri Krishna ..
Sin is not a universal concept .. It is not the same at all places , at all times and for all persons .. Sin for a Sannyaasi is not a sin for a family man .. Sinful action for a Brahmin may not be so for a Kshatriya .. It may even be a duty for him .. The restrictions regarding cleanliness scrupulously followed by a Brahmin are not applicable for a Shudra .. Actions regarded as sinful and hence avoided by elders may not be so for a child .. Actions born out of ignorance may not incur sin .. Similarly , actions commonly accepted in a snowy region may be regarded sinful in other areas .. This is essence of Shri Krishna's words ..
