Meaning : One who eats very little ...
Is there a connection between food and spiritual practices ?? In all probabilities , 'Yes' .. Laghvaashi (One who eats little) , Mitaahaari (One who has limited food) etc. are common words in this field .. Providing nourishments to body is the main purpose of food .. Each of us has different routine and different levels physical exertion and hence different levels of energy requirements .. Food is necessary to supply the energy as per our individual requirement .. If the food intake is in excess to the requirement , the excess food is converted into fat and stored in the body .. The habitual excessive eater turns obese in due course .. This causes laziness and slower movements .. Sleep hours are increased .. The vigour of thinking faculty is also diminished .. Tamasa develops and grips the personality , retarding every aspect of his personality .. Food intake has to be just to satiate hunger .. The tendency to eat for taste enjoyment and not for hunger stimulates Rajasik attribute .. Tamas and Rajas tie us down to sensual world and drift us away from Spiritual practices .. It is definitely better for a Spiritual practitioner to eat less ..
