Meaning : One who keeps aloof ...
To seek solitude , to relish solitude is a trait , a unique one for practitioners of meditation and for seekers of Spiritual knowledge and Spiritual experience .. Their minds may not be attracted by sensual and pleasurable objects in the world .. They may be disinterested in these objects ... Nevertheless , these objects loom around us all the time .. These objects continuously intrude into us through our senses , as though these are in an aggressive attack on us ..
The practitioner of meditation has to be alert .. He should prefer to be in solitude .. He should be able to enjoy solitude .. The ones who have realized Spiritual knowledge are a different category .. They may not be disturbed by the exterior .. But , the seeker , the one traversing Spiritual path has to be cautious .. He should protect self from these aggressive sensual objects .. Hence , it is natural for him to seek solitude ..
Solitude is complete dislocation or disconnection from the world .. Is it possible ?? We may close our eyes and get disconnected from visual objects .. We may plug the ears and disconnect from the world of sounds .. We may close our mouths and refuse to feed , thereby disconnect from the world of tastes .. But , what about the nose ?? It can not be blocked .. Hence , smells , favourable and unfavourable keep striking through the nose .. We can not desensitize the skin .. Hence , touch of warm and cool wind , touch of mosquitoes , ants and insects can not be avoided .. Above all these is the mind .. Mind relates with the objects through memories of previous experiences with the objects .. Yes . It is no doubt difficult .. Yet , solitude is an essential experience on Spiritual path .. It is inevitable for seekers in the field of Meditation ..
