PHRASES IN THE GITA - 297
Gyaana Yagyena Tenaaham Ishtah Syaam ... (Chapter 18 - Shloka 70)
Meaning : He worships Me through Gyaana Yagya ...
Shri Krishna identified works dearest to Him in the previous Shlokam .. He had said , "Study of the Gita and sharing of the Gita with His devotees" are the works dearest to Him .. Now , here in this Shlokam , he identifies the person doing these works as 'dearest' to Him .. He says such a person is involved in Gyaana Yagya or the sacred Vedik rite of Yagya wherein Gyaana or Knowledge is the medium .. Hence , such a person is dearest to Him , says Shri Krishna ..
Giving or sacrifice is the essence of a Yagya .. In Dravya Yagya , many articles are given to the Gods or in other words sacrificed through the sacred fire to various forms of God .. When the Gita is shared with the devotees , Knowledge is given or imparted to the devotees .. Knowledge becomes the 'ritualistic aahuti' being given to the Gods .. Knowledge is shared and the inner world of devotees is enlightened .. Thus , this act of sharing the Gita with the devotees virtually becomes a Yagya or the Vedik ritual .. and Shri Krishna calls the performer of this act as the dearest person to Him ..
